Let’s get started with the basics. What is an essential oil? Essential oils are aromatic compounds found in the seeds, flowers, rind, bark, and leaves of plants, extracted and distilled for countless health benefits.
The use of plants for natural healing has been used since Adam and Eve were put on this great earth. Throughout history, all over the world, plants have been used to promote and support health, cosmetic uses, and religious purposes. They have been incredibly successful throughout history due to the fact that the essential oil supports the root cause. The oils work with the body to promote the healing process.
Well, you might ask yourself “Why would I use an essential oil?”. Three reasons come to mind:
- They are all natural. Essential oils are plant based and come straight from the earth.
- They are effective. Essential oils work with the body to promote healing naturally, going directly to the root cause on a cellular level. The oils have so many different compounds that they are able to support many different functions and systems throughout the entire body. Our bodies are designed to heal themselves. Essential oils are a tool the body uses for just that purpose.
- They are safe. Being educated in essential oils is incredibly important because not all oils available on the market are created equally or are safe. An essential oil should not feel “oily” or “greasy” to the touch at all. It should be absorbed into the skin almost immediately. If you leave the lid off a safe/pure oil, it will completely evaporate because there are no fillers.
